Default Automatic stuck in park fml

my cavy was driving just fine until I parked it at a friends house, when I got in it to leave I tried shifting to reverse and its really loose and the light under the gauges P R N D etc the needle stays on park and wont move, is it probaly my shift cable, what do I take apart and such to find the problem?

look at the shift cable under the hood on the transmission and see if its broken...

Check to make sure your shifter knob didn't come loose first.

I got it home my dang cable broke on it right on the lever on the transmission, I have no idea how I'm going to fix it

Search for part# 22621784 on both GMPartsDirect and RockAuto for new.
Less than $40 at both.
Alternatively you could try a junkyard for a used one.
