Along time ago I bored out a Briggs and stratton 16hp V-Twin, carved up the cylinder heads, put in bigger valves, lightened the crank, put a bigger carb on it, added a sneaky pete NOS system, and put in on a buddies Jr. Dragster frame. We set a track record for the Jr class. But you know what, it was still just a Briggs and Stratton. Was it worth it? Not really. The dragster ran too fast for that class, so I sold it to a guy who wanted to race lawn mowers.
Does anyone need almost 500hp from a Cavi motor? Not unless it's a drag car.

And like it was stated before.....$500 turbo system? I don't think so. $2500? More like it. Do yourself a favor and just leave the Cavi like it is and build something else fast on the side. Something rwd. Then have fun with it.

^ i'm not sure what to make of this post, i guess i'll just say that skunk knows he does'nt need it, and he knows he'll never get back what he's put into it, he's doing it for fun, for a hobby, and because honestly, only very few people have ever treaded the water he is. Hahn being one of them.

so y not? he's building his own car just bcuz he wants to, not bcuz he needs it. i have alot of respect for what he's been able to do with that little 4banger.

My advice is directed to Cav SS. Good for Skunk. I'm sure it's a cool ride. Cav SS asked, and considering 8 posts, an owners manual telling him what motor is in his Cavi, and needing to know 'the whole 9 yards', I'm pretty much assuming that he's not ready for a 500hp, $15k upgrade. He's just pondering the idea of a turbo setup. So back to the original purpose of my response. Stick with exhaust and intake mods, cruise the Cavi everyday, go get an old VW bug, put in a bus motor, gut the car out and go whip some butt at the strip (I've done that before and it works). Good luck.

well reading this has helped make up my mind.i have a 02, auto also.i think if i want a race car, get a vett.i,m on a tight budget. so i think, for now, improve handeling, braces and springs, and struts. and some good looking paint.then slowly go from there. i would sure like to hear how this turbo & trans all works out though.i bet it will be real nice when your done.
