nah don't be. I fell for it too. I like when companies succeed and GM would've been a feel good story.

Default GM has paid off their loan!!!

Well, I have heard that GM has paid back its government loan. I've always said that a GM vehicle is the best and it looks like they are going to pull through!

actually they paid off the government loan which was $7.6 billion but they still owe the American people $46 billion (we still own 61% in GM) and $10 billion in pensions.

The government has it's own money because they generate revenue. All those loans they gave out the government made interest on them for example... Our money was basically tax dollars. It all goes into T.A.R.P. then from there it goes to GM.

They paid off one tax payer funded loan by using a different source of tax payer money. The stimulus (spendulus) money they took from us has now been repaid by using the TARP money which was also taken from us. So no, they are not actually making money even though they say they are, they are still extending most of their credit to "sub-prime" candidates which got them in this mess, and they still owe the tax payers millions of dollars.
I love GM. LOVE, love, love. But this is ridiculous, and this administration has only made it worse. I believe they will recover in time, once a change in power pulls the government's greedy (and stupid) hands out of their business operations.

Just thought a few things needed to be cleared up. And yes they do owe Canada boatloads, and to subsidize lost earnings they are producing more and more cars at low cost facilities in Mexico. That's something else the commercials don't tell us.
