Default When I reach around 40mph

Hi I'm new to this so if I don't make sence bare with me. I have a 2002 cavilier. When I reach around 40mph I start to hear a sound that I can only describe as a hollow sound. I have no maintance problems this has been going on around ayear a half. Have traveled from Georgia to Florida several times. This sound is starting to reallllly anoy me. I was told it may be the tire but don't know for sure. I think it sounds like the exhaust but I'm just a girl!!! and don't not squat about cars. Can someone help?

Lisa

may be your tire rod, take it to a tire company when you go to put new tires on it and ask them to look around for any strange rust or strange parts, its hard to tell with this little amount of information

Thanks, Scott
I was told it may be something to do with my tire. I forgot to also say I had a plug put in a tire. At the time the tire was up front (passanger's side) I also heard a " different side on that side" at that time. It's been about 1 year since they were rotated I can't remember how it sounded. There is no noise up front now. When I had my tires rotated the front tire was put on the back. Could it be something as simple as that? Would have gotten a new tire then but that one was only a couple of months old
Thanks, Lisa

yelp that could cause wut i call a thud sound at slow sppeds which would cause a loud thumping sound at high speeds, a tie rod is what the tire is attached to on the axle and yes it could just be the plug

Thanks, that makes me feel a little easier though I will continue to listen for any other sound until I can get it checked out.

you should take it to a shop because it could be a tire or that sound could be a wheel bearing starting to go bad

Best thing to do is go to someone that you know who works on cars or is knowledgeable on them and have them ride with you to diagnose the problem.
That's your best way to get an honest opinion and possibly steer you in the right direction on what to fix.
Shops will lie to you for money and still not fix the problem. They prey on women because unfortunately like you, don't know squat about cars which they prey on.

So good luck with it and hope it works out for you.
